Except for the scenes between Jackie and her rehab "mentor" played by the marvelous Julie White, and Zoe's emergence as more than a buffoon, last season was mostly a drag up until the end.įacinelli's and Gilpin's characters were always too much like sitcom characters to fit well into the show. The show was edgy and engrossing for the first 3 seasons. The writing has definitely gone downhill - unfortunately, the show's premise doesn't give the writers too many places to go, so we have had this ongoing see-saw of Jackie on drugs, Jackie attempting rehab, Jackie failing rehab and back on drugs. Oh and the reason she and her soon to be hubby Eddie are selling drugs is to pay Jackie's legal fees so the are writing that with some sympathy for what the characters are doing. Her kids, I don't give two shits about so I hope they're not going to give to much time to them. She was the kind of nurse I would want if I'm in an ER. The one thing I did admire about the character was that she was such a good nurse.

I'm sure it will end with Jackie somehow being the hero who saves the hospital and she'll find a way to get her license back. In NYC losing hospital after hospital to developers who want to turn them into condos for the filthy rich is a very real problem. I also think that Scandinavian guy is going to screw her out of getting her license back but I also think the hospital will be saved. Jackie isn't on drugs anymore but she and Eddie have become big time dealers. This final season is especially bad and boring.

Right now I have 3 free months of it so I caught up on all the seasons On Demand and I DVR'd last night's S7 E1 premiere. Season 7 just started an you can catch it this week if you have Showtime. In the mean time the older mentally unbalanced daughter Grace becomes a cocaine sniffing teen, sneaking out to see her older BF.Īs things get worse in Jackie's life her addiction worsens and she ends up making a serious medical error.Īt the end of Season 6 she is arrested I believe they found drugs in her car or she was driving under the influence.
When the husband finds out about everything he divorces Jackie and fights for custody of the kids. They become close and he even asks Jackie to get him a job as the hospital pharmacist not knowing that was already his job at one point. The pharmacist Jackie has had the on again off again affair with gets desperate when she cuts off their affair and befriends her husband who has no idea who he is. There is a situation where she befriends the addict son of one of her bosses and at some point he ODs. She also wants to go to Catholic instead of public school.Īt the hospital there are various quirky staff members and everyone seems to adore Jackie.Īs the seasons go on Jackie's addiction is discovered and she does a week or so at rehab, leaving before she's supposed to. Her older daughter Grace is having emotional problems and begins to see a shrink. Her husband seems like a nice guy and is oblivious to what is going on in her life. In the first season we see she is sleeping with the hospital pharmacist and he is supplying her with drugs. She was a wife and a mother of two young girls. Jackie is a very high functioning (at least she was) drug addict.
